MARC Linux Cluster Documentation
This Wiki is going to be the main source of information for users of the 142 Node Opteron Linux Cluster placed at the Marburg University Computing Center.
You are invited to join the crowd and put some relevant information into this wiki, thereby helping your colleagues, me, or even yourself at a different point in timespace. Editing is allowed and encouraged for all cluster users.

Q1: What other sources of information about the cluster are available?
A1: Aside from the man pages, you mean ? ;-)
- There are a few web pages at http://www.uni-marburg.de/hrz/infrastruktur/zserv/cluster describing the hardware and some basic configuration facts of the cluster.
- At http://clust-hn.hrz.uni-marburg.de/ganglia/ you can watch the actual system load and other parameters of the various compute nodes (accessible only from within *.uni-marburg.de).
Q2: I have some problems with MaRC. Who can help me?
A2: Chances are that other users have the same problem (or have even solved it). So try to ask on the cluster mailinglist. Yes, MaRC is a community project, so don't hesitate to send an email to linux-cluster@lists.uni-marburg.de . The list is explicitely dedicated for discussion about user problems.
Q3: I sent an email to the mailinglist but the email doesn't get distributed.
A3: If you have several email identities: be sure to use the From-address which is subscribed on the mailinglist. Otherwise your email will be rejected.
Q4: I want to send an email to the sysadmin.
A4: You may use the email address marc@hrz.uni-marburg.de. Mails to this address will be routed to a ticket system queue which is dedicated to the MaRC linux cluster. So your mail will be read and tracked even if your sysadmin is out of the office for several weeks.
Q5: I had some pertinacious problems with MaRC and found a tricky solution. How can I show my pride?
A5: Please contribute to this wiki! It uses the mediawiki framework (just like wikipedia), so editing isn't that hard.
